Eilat or Aqaba: where to stay a night before Petra.

Hi!

I'm planning to visit Petra and spend 2 days and a night there. I will be leaving from JLM and will be traveling (Oct 5 Sunday) alone by Egged bus 444 Leaving @14:00 and arriving 18:52 in Eilat.

Please suggest where should i spend the night before Petra. Should i cross the border and stay in Aqaba upon arrival or stay overnight in Eilat and cross the border the next day?

How is the border crossing at night night time? I will have a pre-arranged visa already so i guess i will be a step faster.

What will be better and smoother?

The frontier post closes at 8pm, it is always a quick and easy frontier. It would certainly be better if you cross the night before so that you can get to Petra early.

What is a prearranged visa?

post# 4 most western nation can get visa on arrival for Israel.

You dnt mention what passport you do hold?

visa is often free but you pay departure tax range 40-55 dollars. depends on which port you exit.
