Cost of food in Petra

I would like to know how much does eating out cost in PEtra, am a vegetarian and would be eating only at local places(are there several local places ? ).

Is 3-5 JOD good enough to have something like a mezze platter or a falafel for lunch?

Thanks AliH..are there enough local restaurants and bakeries in WadiMusa, because from what I know it's more of a tourist place.

Hey Ashwinb.

Just as a side note, eating in Petra itself is more difficult. There are a couple of resteraunts that have a monopoly and serve up an overpriced buffet lunch. You're much better bringing in a picnic lunch.

Petra is indeed a tourist place and unfortunately you will be treated as such even in the more "local" restaurants, shops and bakeries. You can buy things for a packed lunch the evening before your visit so you don't need to go to one of the restaurants inside Petra, it will definitely save you some $. Have a great time in Petra !

The restaurant near the Museum within the Petra site, I think managed by Crown Plaaza were charging JOD 17 per person for their buffet lunch if I remember correctly. Hence as suggested for the Petra visit day, it makes sense to pack in a small lunch/sandwich, etc.

Yes ashwinbahulkar, there are many local restaurants in Wadi Musa downtown

And inside Petra there are two restaurants, one managed by Crown Plaza Hotel (Approx 18JOD per meal) and the other restaurant "local restaurant" and they make open buffet (10JOD per meal)

Enjoy

In Petra: you mean in the site? Then you have only the 2 options mentioned.

In Musa: 3 -5 JOD good enough to eat at local restaurant? Barely!!
