One day ONLY - Petra vs Petra/Wadi Rum

We will be staying in Aqaba mid-April and will have the opportunity on one day only to do a tour to visit either Petra –OR- Petra/Wadi Rum. We would appreciate any advice as to whether we should just go to Petra or otherwise contemplate visiting both places (which we realise would make for a VERY long day, but we are up for the challenge!). I have received information from local tour operators who can offer day tours for either. Many thanks.

dingo_gav,

a 7 day post with no answer,, sorry for missing it....

what you propose is do-able in one day , but a long day. and it is a shame to miss one or the other, as they are so close and different.

IMO, I would arrive at Petra main gate around 8am at the latest, be out of the the by 1-1:30pm. have a bit to eat and then head for the Wadi Rum.

a 2-3 hour jeep tour of the site, with the sun set.

you will be back in Aqaba in 1- 1/2 hour,, time for diner..

ciao

Many thanks for advice.

For this particular trip, we have decided to just visit Petra and arrangements have been made. But we will return to Jordan one day!

Thanks again.
