Wadi Rum tour

Hi,

Is a 35 JD tour to Wadi Rum inclusive of transportation cost to Wadi Rum from Petra, Jeep tour in Wadi Rum, lunch, dinner and a stay in a Bedouin camp too good to be true?

Hi.

I think the 35JD, should read: "exclusive" of all the other...

the taxi ridealone, is around the 35JD mark,,,

Yes,,, it is too good to be true,,, or more impossible for that price...

Exactly, a taxi from Wadi Rum to Petra costs 35 JOD so YES this is definitely too good to be true. In Wadi Rum you get what you pay for so if you go for the cheapest option be prepared to be dissapointed !

Not sure what the local travel agencies in Wadi Musa charge for this, there are plenty of them in the tourist street near Petra, you can just walk in and compare prices. Make sure you ask to be taken to the Protected Area (entry via the visitor center!) If you want do it on your own you can take the early 6.30 AM bus to the visitor center, this costs 5 JOD. Your hotel needs to call the driver the evening before. There are no buses back in the afternoon so to get back to Petra you'll need to have your host in Wadi Rum arrange a taxi for you, the 1,5 hour taxi ride will cost +/- 40 JOD (it used to be 35 JOD but I'm guessing that with the higher fuel prices they will ask more now). The price of a jeep tour depends of course on how long you want it to be. Hopefully someone who recently did a jeep tour via the vistor center can give you some prices. Enjoy !

There is no real need to go back to Petra to get a bus to Amman! You can ask somebody in Wadi Rum to drive you to the Highway from where you can flag down a bus to Amman. A Bedouin would probably ask for 10/12JD to drive you to the Highway, it's 28kms from the village.

I admit the buses are marked in Arabic, but you can't go very far wrong if you flag down everything. The worst that can happen is that you find yourself in a bus going to Ma'an and you would have to get another bus from there to Amman. I think any other bus driver would tell you that he's not going to Amman.

Another way would be to ask your Bedouin to drop you off at the service station a few hundred meters north, where 90pct of buses stop to fill up with petrol. Like that you can ask the guys at the service station to indicate the Amman bus.

Or, or course, you could learn what the Arabic word for Amman looks like....

You would save at least a couple of hours by doing this (in the worst case scenario by transitting at Ma'an) and probably much more. You would also save at least 20JD.

This is almost definitely a scam. Search Tripadvisor "Wadi Rum Scam" or link tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g318895-d799…
