Tapachula Airport - Is it safe to spend a night there?

We're from the other side of the world (New Zealand) and arriving at Tapachula Airport after midnight mid-week. We have a rental car booked to pick-up at the airport first thing in the morning. It doesnt seem worth booking and trying to get to a hotel for whats left of the night.

Is the Tapachula Airport safe and reasonable to spend a few hours at and try to get a few hours sleep there? We'd appreciate hearing from anyone who knows.

I can't give you a definitive answer but I am sure Tapachula airport is tiny and almost certainly closes for the night and re-opens. I suspect you would be kicked out by security staff at some point so I think you'll have to make other plans.
