trichy is located at center of tamil nadu

so you have access to many other cities easily

you can visit thanjore which is just 1 hour travel.

kumbakonam / chidambaram- 2-3 hours

sithanavasal, chettinad mansion and madurai 3 hours.

palani - 2-3 hours

you can visit dams - kallanai - standing from 2A.D., mukombu dam

give us some more about your trip to guide precise.

Thank you for the details.

I am thinking of like a 5 day trip. Its my birthday and i want to go to Madurai Meenakshi temple. I am fr overseas so i have to fly into Trichi.

Is Trichi a better base or Madurai? What can isee if i make Madurai a base?

from madurai you shall travel to kanyakumari, rameswaram, thiruchendur, thirunelveli.

from trichy via chettinad you shall reach rameswaram also.

anyways trichy and madurai are just 2 hours travel in NH 45B by car.

so its your decision. both doesn't make much difference.
