Domestic Departure Tax

Hi,

Am leaving for Venezuela next monday and trying to work out how many $ I need to take. Have found out the international depature tax is pretty high at around $70 but does anyone know if there are taxes to pay when flying internally as in total we have 6 domestic flights!!

Any help would be appreciated...

How much money you need to bring all depends on how you are going to change your money here. If you change officially at the airport you will only get 2.15Bs to the dollar. If you change on the 'parallel market' you will get at least 5Bs to the dollar. It can make a big difference to the cost of your trip. There is a large demand for US Dollars as the Government does not allow anyone to purchase foreign currency here.

For sure, pay your international departure tax in Bolivares, not Dollars! Then the cost is less than half. Domestic departure taxes can depend. For instance, Caracas to Margarita, it is 27Bs, which is $12 official rate, but only $5 if you have changed your money wisely. All other airports will be less for domestic departures taxes, but there will still be probably at least a 20Bs charge.

Any help would be appreciated...
