Funnily enough we live in Bromley Cross and were in Nerja last Christmas. There were plenty of places open and we opted to just "ignore" the Christmas dinner and just had a nice meal at one of the restaurants next to Balcon Europe, sitting outside in the sun (was very warm!). We are also going to book for 21st to 28th, just looking around for accommodation at the moment. You will enjoy it!

David, as I posted further up the thread you really won't have any problems finding places to eat on Christmas Day, whether you want British Christmas Dinner or just a normal lunch. You will need to plane the evening of Christmas Eve carefully though - most places will be shut (have a long lunch!).

I can't make a comparison with Malaga but in 2008 we took New Year in on the Balcon. I know it is 5 years ago and a recession has happened but it was brilliant. There was a live band on, families out enjoying themselves and great fireworks. It was really busy but not horribly squashed together. We took our own drink and paper cups but there was a bar to buy from. Wouldn't hesitate in doing it again.

Thanks for your replys, seems like we won't go hungry! and if trying to find accomadation is anything to go off , it's gonna be relatively busy as many properties we enquired about were taken.

It seems Spain is still much more traditional in the way it celebrates Christmas, much more community orientated.

As long as i can get some lovely cakes from ortiz bakery we will be happy :D
