Las Palmeras Apartments

Hi folks,

We are planning our return trip to Nerja for May next year. It will be ou 4th time going. Previously we have stayed in Los Pinos villas up near the Parador hotel. We have been very happy here but have to change this yera as our little one is toddling and will be lethal with the staircase in these villas. We hae been recommended an apartment in Las Palemras ( ground floor). I think it is near Torrecilla beach but to be honest we've always spent our time between Burriana and the Balcon

and rarely have ventured over further. I always though it seemed a bit more commercialised/highrise etc. Is there anyone here who can recommend this area. How far from the Balcon is Torrecilla/Las Palmeras? We've had such a great time in Los Pinos I am loathe to move!!

A friend of mine has an apartment in Las Palmeras, and it's certainly in a good location, overlooking Playa el Salon. Whilst the area around (and especially further along) is certainly more commercialised/highrise than the other side of Nerja you don't really need to go into that part - it's a shame the Ayuntamiento didn't plan the expansion of Nerja westwards more sensitively.

It's about a ten minute (reasonably flat) walk to the Balcón, maybe more with a toddler, quite a few good restaurants nearby and on the way down to Torrecilla.

I know what you mean about location, just west of Parador has always been my favourite area on the edge of the old town.

That said, if I had to choose the next best I'd much prefer to be heading towards Torrecilla than Burriana and the first blocks you come to after

plaza cavana with sea views are Playa Acapulco and Las Palmeras very easy walk from the balcon, they are 4 story blocks but have nice pool, gardens and spectacular views from the cliff, touristic yes but not entirely unsympathetic, the immediate area has some character, not a bad choice of location.

Still need to watch toddler in the grounds but a ground floor apartment sounds ideal, you just won't have such nice terrace views as the top apartments. A2 location in Nerja IMO, it's further west past Torrecilla that the new build has gone too far in recent years and that's due to get worse.

I woudn't be concerned, give it a go it's not a bad choice.

We have been coming to nerja for over 25 years and have stayed in Las Palmeras many times. We stayed pool side when our children were young and have lots of happy memories. I think you will enjoy the location as it is very close to the balcon, has lovely child friendly restaurants and bars close by and is near to the beach if you want it. Try it I am sure you won't regret it.

In October, 2012 we returned to Las Palmeras Apartments after enjoying our stay there in 2009. We very much like this area of Nerja because it is so convenient to the Balcon. We were very pleased with the many restaurants as well. We walked everywhere without encountering any steep inclines or steps.

It it also within walking distance to the Hotel Riu Monica which was the departure point for 2 day trips we took to Ronda and Granada. We very much look forward to our next stay at Las Palmeras.
