Sleepy Hollow RV Park, Winterhaven CA

I am curious if anyone has stayed here or has any RECENT information as well.

Address is:

369 Algodones Road, Winterhaven, CA, 92283

(760) 572-5101

I called the above number today --

$150/wk incl everything; $350/mo + elec. – no deposit.

I asked re Verizon coverage - he said in some parts yes, some no.

He said there is WIFI.

We have a 30 foot motor coach and I got the idea from the conversation if you have a large coach to call to be sure they can accommodate your needs.

From what I understand you better like the sound of helicopters.. Because you are quite close to the border they fly during the night quite frequently and at a low altitude.

We checked into Sleepy Hollow yesterday afternoon. It is on Indian Reservation on Algodones Road within walking distance of the border and town of Los Algodones, Mexico.

It is $350 month and full hookups -- plus electricity. There was no deposit. This is about 8/10 of mile before parking lot where people park to walk across into Los Algodones (famous for medical facilities and nice day to spend in Mexico town).

It is a little less than 2 miles from the Quechan Casino... where you can also catch a bus (Y CAT) to Yuma.

?? I just found out -- may need PASSPORT when walking over to return to U.S.... need to check that out as we have none... This seems to be a new requirement.... ???

Yes it is dusty, on gravel (we tend to expect that in desert AND in country) ... there is laundry room, club house/office (has nice TV), restrooms and showers (which we don't use as self-contained).

We didn't hear helicopters over night but this was just our first night -- rained and windy.

I will be doing a formal review after leaving (don't know exactly when that will be at LEAST mid-January...) both here on Trip Advisor and on my Deb's Professional Services blog. Information will remain available.

You are entering another country of course a passport is required. If you wanted to visit Canada a passport would be required as well.

We spent the day in Mexico yesterday -- NO PASSPORT (see note below). Los Algoones is 4 blocks PACKED with dental, optical, pharmacy etc... and of course vendors. There are people grabbing your attention to take you into their specific office.

I happen to NEED dental work and do plan to return at a future time -- as prices were very good... need to read more on the references etc.

There were all kinds of vendors for purses, lace, hats, hand-made arts and crafts and other items -- typical to Mexico.

We had a really good little lunch -- only $7 for both of us. It was a nice afternoon.

As U.S. Citizens (and don't know if it helped that we are not Hispanic)...-- We did NOT need a passport. ** I don't know if that is only because we were walking through customs office rather than driving or not. ** All we had to do was show our U.S. Driver's License and tell them what we had bought. (make sure to know what items/quantities you can bring back across border)

I would suggest you do NOT drive - too cramped and busy... there is an Indian parking lot on the right just prior to the border -- it is the same turn to the right from Algodones Rd that Sleepy Hollow entrance is on. ALSO have seen many cars parked along the side of the road prior to Sleepy Hollow with people walking.

NOTE: Sleepy Hollow RV Park OFFICE is closed on Saturday and Sunday -- so if you are staying here...that also means the rec room so get your books etc on Friday.

For your dental work may I suggest dentaldepartures.com/algodones-dentist/. We have researched and booked through them three times and our experiences have all been great. Doesn't cost any more...the clinics they list on their site all guarantee their work. We are headed there next week to finish our implants.

Jean :)

I had dental work done last week... all teeth pulled AND dentures put in -- but that is another story... (good one)...

After standing in line at border crossing for quite a while -- when we got to desk they wanted PASSPORT... said would let us slide THIS time (that was good since holding towel up to my bleeding mouth...)...

People say it is hit and miss...

Official word appears -- need PASSPORT...

Condition License? What is that?

I have heard now that in many states you can make it as part of your Driver's License... wish I knew that when I just renewed both mine and my husband's last year.
