Dominical Weather - July 9-16

Hello All,

I'm looking for some advice from experts, so of course I came here. :)

My wife and I are considering a last-minute vacation this July as it is our 10-year anniversary, and I'm pushing for CR, and specifically Dominical. I've found some great rentals offering the type of experience we're looking for, and activities abound. I've got her 80% convinced, but the problem is the weather, or potential weather.

We're looking for a trip where we can do a couple of days of activities, while on alternate days we lay about by the pool reading, relaxing and sun-tanning. I know it's the green (read: rainy) season in July, but I'm not 100% sure what that entails. I've never been to CR, but in some other locations this means that once a day it rains for a few hours in the afternoon, but the rest of the time it's sunny and warm.

Now I know that there's never any guarantee on weather, but I'm looking at the 14-day forecast, and historical data. It isn't helping my cause any, with clouds and rain for the next 14 days and an average of 4 hours of sun per day for July.

Can anyone give me a realistic description of what to expect if/when we go for the dates above? What is "cloudy" like at this time of year? When/how much rain can we reasonably expect? What are the odds that this 'dream' vacation will be a let-down because of the weather?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi, at the moment we have been experiencing partially cloudy days (sunny & hot - no problems getting a tan) with afternoon storms about 4 or 5 pm or overnight thunderstorms. It refreshes all and keeps it all green. Even it it is raining you can still swim in the pool and do many activities as it does not get Cold. Temperatures in the mid 70's to mid 80's. We are supposed to have a little summer "Veranillo de San Juan". From past experience in July I think you will have no problems in doing various activities and beach, and in the evenings having a spectacular electric storm.

Hi, also thought I would give you a list of tour operators in the area for you to have a look. Whales will not be seen in July.
