Grandparents need ideas for Sedona & 12 year old

We are from New Jersey and are taking our 12-yr old granddaughter to the Grand Canyon (2 days) and to Sedona (4 days) third week of June. We need ideas for light hiking and entertainment. Have already reserved Pink Jeep Broken Arrow tour. Thinking about Blazin M Ranch or other option for western dinner show. Also thinking about the hot air balloon. Any suggestions/recommendations greatly appreciated.

If she enjoys swimming or being in the water, take her to Red Rock Crossing. If she's adventurous try Slide Rock SP in Oak Creek Canyon. The walk at West Fork is lots of fun in the summer.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross is a short visit, but one that she'll enjoy and remember forever.

Pink Jeep tour will be an awesome start for your vacation. Drive through Oak Creek Canyon and visit Indian Gardens, the place where Sedona was first settled. You can get a deli type lunch or snack and sit outside. It should be nice and cool in the canyon. If you like to hike, you may like West Fork. If not, you may enjoy visiting Slide Rock State Park. (Bring an old swimsuit for the slide.)

Other options would include Verde Valley Railroad if it isn't hot. Jerome is interesting too. Stops include the kaleidoscope shop, the old auto repair shop, and for lunch Quinze if you like creative Southwestern food or burgers and fries or Mile High Cafe. There are some great panoramic views and an old jail (if you like photography.)

It's a short walk to Montezuma Castle (south of Sedona) and a little longer (>1 mile) to Circle V Bar V which has petroglyphs. Circle V-Bar-V is open 9:30-3 Friday-Monday only with docents on hand who tell about the history of the area and discuss the petroglyphs. Both are in Camp Verde.

Agree with Kate. You could do Jerome in the am, then head to http://verdecanyonrr.com/ and then Blazin M for dinner/show. If you and Grandpa are a little adventuresome, consider http://www.sedonaadventuretours.com/

and float down the Verde River.
