Phoenician or The Boulders for a family with children?

We're thinking of heading to Phoenix in late April as part of our family's 50 state tour. We have 4 kids ages 12, 12, 7 and 5. We want to stay in the resort that offers the best combination of luxury, family friendly atmosphere and location. I've narrowed it down to Phoenician and The Boulders.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Boulders is lovely, but the Phoenician is closer to other things to do...like the zoo, botanical garden, hikes on very well-established trails, shopping, et cetera.
