Botanical Garden Luminaria

We are going to the Botanical Garden Luminaria exhibit and want to have a nice dinner before or after. I read about parking issues at the garden - is that still an issue? How long should we plan to spend there and any dinner suggestions? We read about sunset at Element. If we eat first and then go to the exhibit any time suggestions? Thanks!

Have you purchased your tickets already? The remaining admission days for non-members are December 9 - 23, 26 - 31. Parking is not a problem. There are helpful staff directing traffic and the later you get there the farther away from the gate you'll have to park.

Don't know of any good restaurants in the immediate area, you may want to consider oldtown Scottsdale for dinner. Doors open at 5:30, we were there on the freezing night of December 6th and still took over three hours to walk around and listen to a couple of the bands, so it'll be a real early or pretty late dinner. The restaurants at the garden are okay, but you can do better.

We do have our tickets and your information is very helpful. We want to have plenty of time to tour the garden as we have never been there. Sounds like we might want to eat after. What time does it start to get dark there? Seems like it will be more beautiful then.

Where are you staying? That will help determine what might work for food. Also, what kind of meal do you want?

Lots of choices in Scottsdale and Old Town Scottsdale. There are also some near Hayden Rd. and McDowell--that's not too far from the gardens. Have a look at the Salt Cellar, Uncle Sal's, Carlsbad Tavern, and Tottie's Asian Fusion.

We went last year and really enjoyed the evening. Got there around 6, as I recall. No issues with parking. Very, very cold--be prepared to bundle up. This was the only time I've ever listened to a steel band while wearing a winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves :-) Hope you have a great time.

We are staying downtown where our son recently moved. We would probably be most interested in steak or pasta type meals. Thanks!

Make sure you stop at all the different musical venues. We enjoyed them and there is an Apache Indian there that tells wonderful stories. I would recommend getting there after it opens as there is such a line up in the beginning and then a mad rush as everyone runs inside. We were there 2 weeks ago and I guess we spent a good 2 hours there.
