Driving Phoenix to Las Vegas

We're arriving in Phoenix on Aug 10th and staying two days then driving to Las Vegas on Aug 12th.

Any tips on a route? Precautions? Must see attractions along the way?

We are three adults in our 30's, so no interest in kid stuff.

Thanks!

You either dog leg up to the Grand Canyon South Rim & drive along the "Old rt 66" to the 93 from Kingman to Vegas... Or hazard the entire 93 ... Where a number of drivers are headed home ... Cleaned out, strung out, sleep deprived & pissed off... As a result the highway is well patrolled ... carracar

93 is not that bad and shortest way to Las Vegas. It's does not have many attractions though. Driving through a forest of Joshua Trees will be most exciting and you can stop at Hoover Dam before Las Vegas. The direct drive without stops app is 5 hours. If you have more than one day a visit to Sedona and GC is highly recommended with an overnight stay at GC but you'll need a reservation www. grandcanyonlodges.com

One of the restaurants in Wikieup used to have rattlesnake meat on the menu. Haven't been through there recently to know if it's still there.

No reason to stop, just fill up the tank and drive it straight through. Depending on what part of the valley you start from, it will take 4-5 hours.

Don't take the 60, too many lights. Take I-17 north to the Carefree Hwy, then west to Wickenburg. Catch the 93 from there and it's smooth sailing at 10 mph over the speed limit. The bridge took about 30 minutes off the commute, if you haven't made it in the last couple years. 4.75 hours from Tempe every time now. You can make it under 4 from Anthem.
