In the States, would you pick Lake Tahoe or Napa Valley in CAlifornia for your honeymoon?. The two areas are simiar to both of these places.
we would pick napa. but also want to expand our horizons a bit more. is bariloche too much of the same with going to calafate?
Bariloche is going to give you a similar experience to CAlafate with the focus on the Andes and lakes. In addition, Bariloche has the wonderufl honeymoon experience of the Llao Llao Hotel which is about as romantic as it get.s Have a look at their website.
Mendoza has some wonderful places to stay as Club Tapiz and Cavas which would make for a perfect honeymoon. Mendoza has all the luxury and restaurants of Napa at a fraction of the cost. Also, it sits right next to the Andes so you have similar mountain expiernces.
I think that although Bariloche and El Calafate are both in Patagonia, they are both different places. Bariloche is more about the lakes, the mountains, the rivers, etc. and el Calafate is more interesting to see the glaciers, and the sceneries in general are different too.
If you would pick napa then go to Mendoza. There are many outdoor things to enjoy there, like rafting (well, you can do that in Bariloche too), but you can also horse ride in Mendoza, go to the vineyards, drink some of the best wine, go to Upsallata, go to an estancia, etc-
Both places are really amazing, so you have to decide if you want to limit your trip to Patagonia or go further and check mendoza too.
Whichever way, you will love it. I am sure.
