Restaurants- New Year's eve - wine tasting + tours

Will be in Mendoza end of December. Looking for suggestions for good restaurants, bar/cafe to taste wine. Also, what's nice for New Year's eve? Any suggestions for a wine tasting tour or Alta Montana?

Francis Mallman 1884 Restaurant

The peripatetic chef’s signature establishment is still the eponymous Francis Mallmann 1884. A destination diner’s dream-come-true, it’s located in the historic Bodega Escorihuela winery in Mendoza, Argentina, in the heart of the country’s thrilling wine region.

Last year, 1884 rated seventh among the world’s most desirable restaurants in a London Times list, and it’s easy to see why. The dining room is a study in restrained elegance, with its spacious ambience, cool marble floors, earth-toned walls, and high-backed chairs. The place attracts the local gourmets, but frequently plays host to an international crowd of wine glitterati.

Francis Malmann is an icon for Argentinian cuisine and its always a pleasure to try his places and dishes.I would surely go for 1884, been in the one he had before also in Mendoza a couple of times and enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for the advice - we took the wine tour with The Grapvine people as well as a rafting trip. We are advanced wine drinkers and tasters and were disappointed by the Grapevine tour - a lot of touring, some tasting of low level wines and in some cases teaming up with a larger group. For people desirous of a better experience I'd suggest picking out the vineyards and arranging a private tour as well as higher level tasting. For 2 people this would not cost more. Rafting on the "brown" river was was rather exhiting with lots of jumps, turn and water coming into the raft. Not for the old, weak and fainthearted.
