Ride availability from Wine Hotel/Spa as a home base

Ride availability from Wine Hotel/Spa as a home base

My question: We will be without a vehicle this trip. How inconvenient is it to grab a ride from a place like that into town for lunch/dinner? If it is a pain in the bottom, I'll throw the extra day to the AirBnB and have the spa day there.

More details: We are trying to allocate our full days while in Mendoza between AirBnB's in the city and a place called Entre Cielos outside of town. We have 4 non-travel days (counting the one where we would pack up at the AirBNB and catch a ride to Entre).

Even though this is our first time to Argentina, we are considering stealing a full day from our time in Buenos Aires at the front end of this trip because slow-paced country life suits us a bit more. The goals of this trip are "Red Meat, Wine, Rest and Unwind". We would use that day for either more winery visits or just a total "spa" day.

There are drivers you can hire for day/half day to visit wineries (some listed in this Mendoza forum). Taxis (remis) widely available. At the other end of the spectrum (more $$) there are agencies that can package "winery days" (pick up from any location, winery visits (2-3) and drop off back to AirBnB). We found that option to be more conveninet, and not entirely more expensive than trying to do it ourselves. We used Vilvey Turismo (happy to share contact details)

Hi Adi/Atlanta, we are looking for a private driver to do a day of wine tasting in Mendoza.I see your post that #s for these drivers could be found in the forum, but I didn't see any. Did you go to Mendoza? If so, did you hire a driver? If so,might you have any contact#s? Thanks for any help. Cindy

@Cynthia, I was going down that path, but between coordinating winery visits/tasting, lunches and hiring the driver, I found it easier to just deal with a local agency (I was at the end of a 3 week trip to South America, that I did all on my own, and was simply running out of energy ;-)

So we used Vilvey Turismo. Macarena was our point of contact, and she was extremely accomodating, putting together a nice tailored 2-day itinerary that was just perfect (and wouldn't have been much cheaper had I done it all on my own). Here's her direct WhatsApp number. +54 9 261 269-9247. I found that people down there are a lot more responsive to WhatsApp...

Other names/numbers I collected during my research:

Javier Caruso +54 9 261 650-3382

A. Rodriguez +54 9 261 652-7797 (limited English)

Juan Cruz D. at ToursByLocals

Javi Carusso javiercaruso2003@gmail.com

We were a group of 6, so just for drivers we were quoted anywhere from usd 230-400 per day (for an 8-10 person vans) or for 2 smaller cars/sedans, $100-150 per car/day (in case we wanted 2 separate cars). Like I said, after adding winery visits and the rest, the price difference wasn't all that big (I'm assuming these drivers are hired by the respective travel agencies)... but it was nice to have it all packaged up and only pay once.

For possibly the cheapest option reach out to Mendoza Remis | Ventas ... but these are local taxi drivers; make sure you request english speakers. We did one time, and his english was limited at best; luckily, my Spanish is decent ;-)

good luck!

My pleasure. Enjoy Mendoza and everything it has to offer. And although it's primarily known for Malbec, try some of the whites (Angelica Zapata chardonnay was pretty good) and the lesser known Bonarda was excellent (if looking for something closer to a Pinot)
