Easiest way to use a cell phone in Argentina

What is the best way for communication in Argentina? Our Droids won't work there. What about purchasing a disposable phone when we arrive?

Do you mean you have Android OS phones...? If so, as long as they are unlocked and can use a SIM card from any carrier, they should work here in Argentina.

Else, buying a cheap phone is of course an option... or some folks just use one of the various VOIP options and WiFi.

No, you do not need an Argentine ID card; the companies will use your Passport for ID.

It tends to take a bit of time, but it works pretty easily and well. We have been buying SIM Cards from Moviestar for years. You go to a Moviestar or Personal Office and they will sell you the card, install it and show you how to buy minutes - at a kiosko and/or on line. If you don't speak Spanish reasonably well, ask for someone who speaks English...

This year, we even used it in Uruguay (for local Uruguay or Argentina calls) and didn't even buy the Uy Sim card.
