Tacuari 173 Apart Hotel - questions!!!!
Save

I´m traveling with my wife and our six-year-old daughter to Buenos Aires in October.

This will be our first time in Buenos Aires and will stay for six days, and have no idea whatsoever about the different districts and areas in the city.

We booked at Tacuari 173 Apart Hotel based on RCI recommendation.

Have any of you stayed at those apartments? Or heard comments about it?

The building is located at Tacuari Av., close to Belgrano Av and Carlos Pellegrini, according to the map site.

We would appreciate any comments regarding this location, and any info about close by amenities (restaurants, supermarkets, etc) and neighborhood safety

My wife will be attending a conference at Convention Center Sheraton, and hope it is not to far away from the said aparthotel.

Thanks in advance!!

Jose

This is a newer RCI property so I don't know it. It would be a long walk from this location to the Sheraton, however there is a Subte linea C which is located closeby the apartment. This would take her across the street from the Sheraton.

Here is a map link for you:

www.mapa.buenosaires.gov.ar/sig/index.phtml

The neighborhood would be considered Montserrat. You are close to the Intercontinental Hotel and the Moreno Hotel. You might want to read some of the reviews of those hotels in order to get an idea of the neighborhood.

I go to this area infrequently so I can't help you with supermarkets, etc.

We are thinking of staying at this hotel in March 2009. How was you stay there? Was it a good location? Was there an elevator?

Thanks for any advise you might be able to give us.

Jose, how was the vacation? RCI just recommended this very same Tacuari 173 in Beunos Aires to me. Do you recommend this place? Was it a convenient location? How much was the taxi fare to the Recoleta area?

Thanks for your help and any useful information about Buenos Aries you can give.

Jose,

I stayed at the Tacuari 173 in Oct 2009. When we first got there we were a bit put off with the shabbiness of the area but eventually found out it is in the old town area thus the older looking area. The width of the hotel was a shock too (looked like a hole in the wall) but all the buildings in Buenos Aries are very narrow. It is a convenient location to walk to Plaza de Mayo, then up Calle Defensa to Plaza Dorrengo market on Sunday which was entertaining with tango dancers, and where we were able to buy a few hand made crafts. The hotel is close to the Puerto Madero waterfront which is along the Río de la Plata riverbank and has many restaurants. A wonderful restaurant there is Cabana Las Lilas, but it is expensive. Walking distance to the square (Plaza de Mayo) where you can see the cathedral, and other important buildings like the national congress. Off the same square is Florida street which is a promenade street for shopping. To get to the Recoleta Cemetery or the up scale part of the city which has the museums and other tourist attractions you will have to take a taxi or learn the subway which seems quite easy. Tacuari 173 is not the usual RCI resorts but it is clean and the front desk staff are very friendly. However they do not speak English. There is a small grocery 2 doors down. They say there is a lot of crime in Buenos Aries but we did not feel threatened. I remember seeing the Sheraton but it might be too far to walk.

Hope this helps,

Sara
