Airport prices

Hi all

just like to remind everyone on a yearly basis that the airport ( Dalaman ) is EXTREMELY expensive for food and drinks, so beware. Take some sandwiches, crisps and water etc (you can't take drinks past the second check in but have a drink before you go through) It really is that bad and the more we spread the word about it the better.

The cheapest bottle of water (small) was 5 lira last October (around £2) The cost of a pint of lager for example is around £6. The fast food outlets are silly prices. If you have children feed them before you set off- the fast food outlets are silly expensive (say around £7 for small portions of chicken nuggets and chips etc-add another £2 for a small a soft drink). Most restaurants now do a takeaway sandwich service so stock up! Any advice or tips please add them, it's not too bad if you are a couple- but with children it's a total rip off. The airport itself is great by the way!

In the past I have bought the small 85ml cartons of Calypso pure orange / apple juice from Morrisons / Asda they are sold in boxes of 12, and taken them in my hand luggage. They are ideal for a quick thirst quencher or if you have tablets to take. Plus you can take up to 10 x 100mls each.

That's a good tip Teeside, plus another reminder that most restaurants, hotels and bars will knock up a great sandwich -and of course there are dedicated sandwich places. Great one right on the corner of the bus /taxi terminus.

We bought sandwiches at Crusoes and took them to the airport, but obviously due to liquid restrictions couldn't take a drink in. Three cups of tea in Dalaman cost 30TL - thats about £12!!! I noticed that the burger & chips & a coke cost between 25TL and 28TL - about £10-£12!

Can we make this into a sticky please. Lets all boycott the rip-offs at Dalman airport.
