Wine/Farm stay

We are looking to finish off our trip with 5 nights in Stellenbosch/Winelands area. We want to be out in the country with beautiful views. On site fishing, biking and walking. Golf and vineyards to visit nearby and finally and most importantly within easy reach of the really good restaurants (onsite good restaurant would be bonus) and an update on which ones are still great/ best would be really helpful.

Have looked at Eikendal which seems to fit the bill apart from slightly dated rooms.

Many thanks

Grangehurst winery is just a little further up the hillside from Eikendal, they offer self catering at a sensible price. It fits the bill on so many levels for you and they are very nice people also. The winery is overlooked by Longridge which has a top restaurant and you are only a few minutes from De Zalze and Stellenbosch golf courses.

Just stayed at the Mooi Bly estate near Paarl. Just a word of warning should you decide to stay there: take all your valuables with you in the car when you go out. We had a laptop and kindle stolen from a locked cottage! Very unpleasant.

A great farm stay would be Rouxwil Farm just off the N2. Its only about 20 mins drive from Franschhoek and the same from Hermanus.

The views are superb and with excellent food and wine along with great hosts - O'Nel is a great cook its a great way to finish your holiday off.

Plus its only 1 hour max to Cape Town airport.

The last two trips to SA have ended with a 3 night stay at Rouxwil Farm - you will certainly go home chilled out and relaxed but maybe a bit bigger in size as the portions are huge but hey ho your on holiday!

Very sad but on the next trip at Xmas/New Year they will be still on Xmas holidays when we wanted to stay but at least its a good excuse to go the year after!!
