Rent Car at Airport or In-City?

We've planned 2 days in Cape Town without a car (planned to walk/taxi/HOH Bus) Then, we were going to rent in-town and drive to cape of good hope, then wine country, then to Knysna and drop off the car in George before flying to Kruger.

Would it be better/cheaper/easier to just get the car at the airport?

We fly in late in the evening. Is pretty easy/safe to get into Cape Town at night from the airport?

Also, any rental agency suggested are welcome.

THANK YOU for any suggestions!

Because you will be arriving late, i would suggest to get an arranged transfer to your Hotel or place of accommodation and you can make use of taxi's and the HOHO bus for the first 2days. Many of the big car rental companies does have offices in the City Center and it will not cost you anything to get the car in the City. They can even arrange a courtesy drop off at your Hotel. Recommendations: Avis Car Rental, Europcar, Dollar Thrifty, First Car Rental and many more. But have a look at Avis and Europcar.
