Gansbaai or Simon's Town to see sharks?!

Hello, we'll be arriving in Cape Town on April 18th, and are very excited about the prospect of seeing great white sharks. We've noticed that some operators are based in Gansbaai, and others in Simon's Town. Which is our best location for seeing sharks at this time of year?!

Thank you!

The answer to this question very much depends on the time of year. Gansbaai has very good Great White sightings year round.

Simons Town is more seasonal due to the behavioural habits of the seals on Seal Island. The best time to see Great Whites and their famous hunting habits around Seal Island is June – September.

Chris and Monique Fallows of Apex Predators (http://www.apexpredators.com) offer superb trips to False Bay. You can check the monthly updates on their website where they detail what has been going on in the waters with their "Sharkbites" newsletter.

Outside of these months your best option is Gansbaai and, I recommend Brian McFarlane who operates Shark Cage Diving.Net (http://www.sharkcagediving.net).

Gansbaai definitely has the best sharks (it is known as the Great White Shark Capital of the world) Check the following link to see more on Sharks in Gansbaai. http://www.sharkwatchsa.com

The company i use takes only 10 people on the boat and 2 in the cage at a time. This means you get much more underwater time and the safety control is better. Then, they also put out the lure for the shark breaching. They are based in Simonstown.

That sounds great but you don't say which company you use - who is it? Thanks
