Best game reserve on the Garden Route

We will be visiting mid-April and would like to find 2 game reserves for 2 day stays at each. Fancy accomodations matter less than than the quality and quantity of the wildlife available in natural settings.

Difficult to say what is "best". there are many.

It really depends on your personal preferences.

you can find a list here:

sa-venues.com/accommodation/gr_game_lodges.h…

or, you could have a look at Addo Elephant PArk. Near Port Elizabeth, and not actually on the Garden route, but close to it.

Enjoy

Addo, is a large national park. I always have the feeling that the smaller game reserves are more zoo like, but that's a personal opinion.

Highly recommend Addo, or if you can find a deal Shamwari is fabulous, but not strictly speaking on the garden route.

Which is your most easterly destination between CT and PE. It would be easier for proposals.

Try the Garden Route Game Lodge - see http://www.grgamelodge.co.za/ it is about 4hours drive from CT - and then I would also recommend Addo which gives the most 'bushlike' experience - but is quite a distance from the Garden Route

If you talk purely garden route, the Gondwana is by far the best...but expensive.

It's in the area of Mossel Bay, scenery is just beautiful, wildlife reasonably good.

They have got great reviews on TA.

Hello

there are a few on the garden route that resemble zoo's however Gondwana as mentioned above is Free Roaming and has the Big 5. They have quite a few different packages at the moment to suit everyones pocket. Have a look at their website: www.gondwanagamereserve.com.

Good luck and enjoy your trip

We like Addo, there are more elephants there than anything else but we really enjoyed it.

We are going as far east as Grahamstown, and as one responder put it, we want to find the least "zoo-like" reserve.
