Do the camps within Kruger have Wifi?
Many thanks in advance :)
And cell reception is spotty at best.
Just back and even in the Skukuza Cattle Baron though advertised Wi-Fi down. Also down in airport.
The whole point of being in the bush (KNP) is to enjoy nature, and to "switch off" from the intrusiveness of technology as far as possible, IMHO.
but Gavin, many tourists have other responsibilities back home , such as running a business, children ,elderly parents etc.
Gem166 is identifying a valid need that some travelers will have..
It's best that they know now - ahead of time - that there's little chance they will have wi-fi or use their phones.
And the OP was asking for facts not opinions.
Vodafone data works quite well in the camps and in the bungalows from my experience.
It is of course very patchy once you are out for game drives. For eg. on the S100 gravel road near Satara we have identified 1 or 2 spots where there is a signal, otherwise nothing..
The WiFi at Cattle Baron has never really worked on my 3 trips there.
In addition to the mobile broadband suggested in post #8 (just get a local SIM and load data on it), you could make sure your family have the contact details for reception at each camp you'll be at. I'm sure they'd pass on messages in an emergency.
