A night between Shakaland and King Shaka Airport?

We are in KZN for several days on holiday. Our plans have changed, rather late in the game and are looking to fill a day after a several day stay at Hluhluwe/St. Lucia. We have youngish children (7 & 11) and thought that Shakaland would appeal to them. We had thought of staying at Shakaland, but will have to miss the next morning's activities to catch our flight. Is it still worth it? Or are there other places between Shakaland and the airport worth seeing/staying. Any ideas welcome.

It's about a 2 hour drive from Shakaland to the airport.

The north coast beaches are lovely and lots of places to stay close to the airport. Try looking around Ballito, Umhlali and umhlanga Rocks. Plenty of accommodation to choose from.

I have not been to Shakaland but maybe your kids would enjoy it? I think its a film set converted to attraction? It will also depend on your flight times and as said there are beach choices closer to the airport.
