vegas to grand canyon via rt 66

Going to be in Vegas at the end of April and renting a car to go exploring. Planning a trip to the Grand Canyon via route 66 and want to know any suggestion on must see places or any old ghost towns along the way? What are the best places to stop for meals? Any suggestions or advice welcome!

93 to Kingman then RT66 to Seligman. Get on I-40 from there to Williams and AZ64 up to the GCNP. Since you'll be dallying on the way to the GCNP you'll want to stay over night there. Book lodging ASAP.

Oatman, Hackberry General Store and Seligman and the must-stops along historic R66 in NW AZ. Food: Kingman, Seligman or Williams. BTW Oatman is not on a direct line between LV and GC, but worth the detour if you have the time. It is, in a way, a ghost town ... but very much alive in a different way today. (There are actually not too many of the what not-Westerners envision as ghost towns).

Hoover Dam is a must see and Mr D'z Diner in Kingman is good for lunch if you fancy a touristy trip back to the 50s! Flagstaff is also a good place to stop - we had a lovely meal in the Weatherford Hotel.
