Tours from J'burg

Going to Cape Town in March and have opportunity to stop in JB for a few days. Is it worth it or should I just head on to CT? Can you recommend good tours from JB?

If you have the option to see Jo'burg it is definetly worth it. There are enough parks in the area to arrange a nice wildlife tour. These are smaller parks but give you the opportunity to see the animals, if you want to see more then you should go to Kruger instead. There are several touring options that take you to kruger.

For the city it is very nice to go and see the apartheidmuseum and visit soweto. You can also enjoy many nice restaurants in the city.

I don't agree with Capetownfan but do agree with African Travel Guide. How can you come to South Africa and not stop off in Jhb???? Cape Town has the mountain and the Waterfront but there is also plenty to see and do in Jhb. The friendliness of the people for a start far outweigh any Capetonian!

As the other post said, there are a few tours you can do - the Aparteid Museum, the Cradle of Humankind, a day at Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park, a visit to Soweto.

There are many good restaurants but not in the city centre itself - all good restaurants are in the suburbs of Johannesburg, whether north, south, east or west, but not in the city centre itself.

Your best would be to hire a car and drive yourself around or if you are staying in a decent hotel, arrange one or two tours through them.
