Plettenberg Bay, Jeffrey's Bay or Nature's Valley?

Hello

We (couple, 30 years old) are going for holidays in South africa in december and would like to spend some time on a nice beach between 22. December and 26. December. Which beach is nicer to sunbath and swim: Plettenberg Bay, Nature's Valley or Jeffrey's Bay? Which town has the best nightlife (restaurants, bars and parties on the beach maybe...)? And one more thing: are there small catamarans (e.g. Hobie Cat) available for sailing?

Thank you :-)

Mireille

For a great nightlife, great beach etc. I would vote for Jeffreysbay.

This is however an extremely busy time with everyone flocking to the beach for summer holiday so I'd hurry up with booking accommodation.

eXCEPT that in that part of the world it can be raining in December. If you want a lovely beach holiday in Cape Town, Camps Bay is the place to be.

True divacape, never know what the weather is going to do. Last year we had perfect weather for the 3 weeks we were there but the year before was dreadfull. Campsbay is always lovely but that is if you have no intention of swimming. (-:

Plettenberg Bay is a very tranquil, beach side village during most months. However, during the month of December it becomes a playground for all those hard-working corporates and their families. It is still a fantastic destination in December filled with interesting and very colorful people, but if it's tranquility you are looking for during that time it may not be your cup of tea. There are however several beautiful country-based establishments who are a mere 5-10 minute drive from Plett Central and to any one of our 3 Blue Flag Beaches. We're here in SA right now - we drove through Plett and were really surprised that it is described as an upmarket resort for South Africans. The beach is lovely but the main drag looked a bit tired. We stayed in J Bay which was primarily for the surfing and we were surprised it wasn't busier. Where I really lived though was wilderness so perhaps you could consider there. The beach is amazing.

Just returned after a 3 week trip to the Cape. My favorite place was Camps Bay and the surrounding areas. The water was very cold there and at Plett and a little warmer at Jeff Bay. I did not feel comfortable in Jeff Bay but very safe in the other places.
