Marsa Alam Town is actually about 70 km + from the air port and a typical egyptian working town, as is El qusier which is about 35 min the other way from your hotel, Neither town is really a tourist town. However Port Galhib which is a up growing resort area in the Marsa area is designed for tourists as they have a few shops, cafes etc. Its about 10 mins from your hotel.

The Resta Grand is located about mid-way between El Quseir to the north and Marsa Alam to the south, it takes about 1 hour by car. Hail a taxi on the road or ask the hotel to call one. Haven't done the trip from there.

Marsa Alam is insignificant and not worth a visit unless you are a keen photographer. http://www.marsaalam.com/Marsa_Alam.html

Quseir is the larger town nicely set in a bay, it looks neglected but is relatively clean and has several sights. There is a fort, a Coptic church, several mosques, a market, a tourist bazaar, shops, teahouses , restaurants ( no bars ) and a lovely sea-side promenade if it only be cleared of litter. http://www.alquseirguide.org/

It will be hot in August and the town will be in slow motion during Ramadan in day time.
