On a scale of 1-10.... if Hawaii is a 5.... Bora Bora is 10.

Having been to both places I rate both as beautiful. However, I would rate Bora Bora as having more dramatic views as described to me (and agreed to by me) by one of the residents of Bora Bora. The peaks of Mt. Otemanu & Pahia are more visually dramatic while the various shades of water in the lagoon are stunning. Bora Bora is all about the water (views, snorkeling, diving, swimming, excursions) while I didn't get the same experience in Hawaii.

Bora Bora wins!

We've been to both, Bora Bora, and French Polynesia in general win hands down. Also, the ambience in French Polynesia is wonderful, and you can't beat the lagoons which are not present in Hawaii. Bora Bora is more beautiful than it looks in pics. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 20.

We've been to both as well. Bora Bora wins hands down for us. The beaches and water color are incomparable and Bora Bora is a LOT less crowded.

In the end, nothing else is Bora Bora. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there are definitely very beautiful places in the Caribbean, some probably more beautiful. However, if you don't go there, you haven't been there. On as objective level as possible, I like the Caribbean for their beaches, white sand, no coral bits or debris, in some spots the coral is very beautiful, a nice variety of small fish. Bora Bora is wilder, more primitive, and there are more big fish (sharks, mantas, etc), the reefs and motus are special. They are beautiful in different ways, only you can decide if it is worth the trip.

Well said TanMD. We've been to the carribean lots but Bora Bora is in a league if its own. It was new and different for us and we fell in live with it. There were lots of honeymooners but we (in our early 50's) never felt out of place.

We live in Boston and went to Bora Bora in May. It's so worth the long trip. I've been to the Caribbean many times and although there are a lot of beautiful places there, they just can't compare to the beauty of Bora Bora, it's completely different. We both turned 60 this year and decided a long time ago that to celebrate this milestone we'd go to Bora Bora. You should try it at least once. We never felt like we were the "old folks".

Agree with the 3 previous posts 100 percent about FP

Having visited FP last October and only spending two days off the Paul Gaugin on Bora Bora we probably did not get the experience of what everyone raves about, however spent 3 days on Tahiti which is very much under rated in our opinion and then spent 8 wonderful days on Tikehau between Ninamu and the Pearl resorts

Having had 30 plus trips to the caribbean there is no comparison .

So we are taking full advantage of Air Tahiti' seat sale and heading to Tahaa in a couple of weeks.

Once you experience it your spoiled.

Thanks trip advisor poster that gave the heads up on this one what a deal.

Go you'll love it.
