Depends where you're staying I suppose...I don't think you should have any problems in Bora Bora. It would make a change actually to see some gay couples! It all gets a bit homogenous there.
Also, Maldives should be fine. It is an Islamic country though so you would need to be discreet. Most resorts are pretty relaxed although the political situation there is a bit unstable.
Cook Islands is probably the most off the beaten track but I've never been there.
There are no issues with same sex couples in French Polynesia. You would be just fine.
French Polynesians are very liberal-minded and tolerant about all sexual preferences, gender orientation, etc. -- much more so than anywhere else I've ever been in the world! You should have no problems at all.
I don't know about the Maldives, but I have been to the Cook Islands and found the culture there to be more religiously conservative... just my opinion.Edited: 3:03 pm, November 07, 2012
We were just there and there was a lesbian cruise stopped on the island for a few days. Everyone was having a REALLY good time. We talked quite a bit as we kept bumping into people throughout our days. They said everyone was great and didnt notice anyone even batting an eye. Felt very welcome.
It's a melting pot... Don't worry!
