Anan Creek Bear Viewing

I need help deciding... I've read that the Anan Creek Bear viewing flight trip from port at Ketchikan is one of the best. I'm just trying to figure out if its worth the $800 plus dollars that it will cost to take my BW there on our one day at Ketchikan.

Has anybody done this trip? Did you like it? Is it worth the $? Or is there something else I should do that day instead?

If you have the time and funds, I would highly recommend this trip. Since I live in Ketchikan, I have been lucky enough to go to Anan every year for the past 3 years. Your tour will include flightseeing, hiking & bear viewing - three tours in one. I saw approx. 15 bears on our last visit (August 12, 2006). It is really great! The hike along the lagoon is special & the flight is fun. It is best to book early though, as the U.S. Forest service only gives out 60 permits per day, and they tend to go fast. Hope this helps & happy bear viewing!
