Hotel Selection Help For Honeymooning Couple Late October?

Hi,

Thanks so much for reading and helping. We are honeymooning to Cook Islands this October-November for 12 days (3 nights in Raro, 6 in Aitutaki and then 3 in Raro). We've been torn for weeks about figuring out where to stay. Our priorities are mainly just to swim in beautiful water and relax. We have a pretty good budget for the 12 days we are there so are not terribly worried about being budget conscious. We had been torn between Nautilus or Rumours, and had also looked at Te Mavana & Little Polynesia, but unfortunately, neither of them had beachfront accommodations (which we would REALLY like if possible!) available!

Most travel blogs say that Muri is the area to stay, but based on a few forums I've seen here, it looks like it's possibly quite polluted!

Any advice that you could provide would be so very appreciated. We're so looking forward to our honeymoon but have been stressing a bit TOO hard over decisions on where to stay!

Thank you.

Kia Orana Rosemary, welcome to the Cook Islands forum.

Rumours properties both sit in an amazing location. The Tikioki waterfall villas occupy a nicer beachfront, and have immediate access to deeper water off the beach.

Royal Takitumu would be another good location, if the honeymoon villas are available.

Other options include Cooks Bay villas in Vaimaanga, and Sea Change beachfront villas in Turoa. Crown Beach is a sprawling property, with onsite licenced dining, and a beautiful lagoon/ocean outlook.

Hope this helps to get your search for your honeymoon started. Kia manuia.

Hi Rosemary

A sensible idea to avoid Muri!

It's pity that the Little Polynesian has no availability. Only a couple of units are non-beachfront so I guess the complex must be just about fully booked.

But it is a good idea to look at Royale Takitumu. It's a lovely small resort - perfect for a honeymoon. We stay in a holiday home right next door so know the area well. It's lovely for swimming and snorkelling and also for walks along the beach - this part of the island (which includes the Little Poly) never gets busy.

Hi Rosemary,

We recently stayed at Royal Takitumu for our wedding anniversary. It was great and I recommend it.

I posted a report on our stay if you search TripAdvisor Royal Takitumu.

Regards

Michelle

Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond! We decided to book at Rumours on the Spa side of the property, and will rent a car or possibly a scooter (though I’m a bit rusty!) to explore the other beaches on the island! If it happens that the beaches are inaccessible to wading/swimming then at least we will have a beautiful villa and view to enjoy! Thank you again!
