Art

We like to buy some local art from the places we visit. What kind of art should I look for and where would we go to shop? Also, what kind of prices should we expect?

The shops in Avarua are overpriced! The stuff at the airport is cheaper.......there are a few wood carvers around the inner road on the island that sell their wares from their front yards...

Alot is imported and not made on the island in the shops. Collectables are the stamps and the Cook Island currency....which is only negotiable in the Cook Islands...you can buy it at the bank or just ask when you get change if they have any $3 bills........gorgeous. They also make perfumes on the island....Perfumes of Rarotonga and the Perfume Factory. There are a couple of artists on the island that display their paintings in local restaurants as well.

sunny regards,
