Cook Island family holiday July

Hello my Tripadvisor friends,

We have a 2 week vacation in July and would like to visit both Islands. We're a family of 4 (children 12 & 10)...we love the beach and looking for places that offer water sports...also love adventure and exploring. We've heard so many wonderful comments about Cook Islands and think it would be a great place to celebrate my husbands 40th. My son would love to go fishing too.... So any thoughts or suggestions on how we can divide our time would be most appreciated.

Kind regards from Australia

Anna & family!

Kia Orana annahds, a week on Rarotonga and a week on Aitutaki would make a very nice vacation. There are some very nice family accommodations on Aitutaki to take a look at. The Ootu Villa and Ootu Beach house as well as Artai Beach Villas and Are-a-Matatui are all excellent places for families. Here are 2 web sites that show most of what is available on Aitutaki:

Gerald I'm not quite sure what the aim of your post is, but if you do have any personal experience of traveling to the Cook Islands and recommendations then I'd love to hear about it.

Kia Orana annahds,

Welcome to the forum.

July is a very popular month for visitors to both Rarotonga and Aitutaki, so it would pay for you to secure accommodation as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

For Rarotonga, the Muri area offers a range of water activities including lagoon cruises, kayaking, sailing, SUP, swimming and snorkelling. There are good accommodation choices in this village including beachfront properties and rental accommodation located across the main road from the actual beach area. Fishing charters operate from nearby Avana harbour, as well as Avatiu harbour (town area).

For Aitutaki, the Amuri area including Aretai Villas are located in a lovely sheltered locality during winter, and handy enough to most facilities. Sunny Beach Lodges offers good value for families, and is even more central to lots of activities. Inano Beach in the Ootu area is another property to consider with its 2br family bungalow. Lagoon cruises can all arrange transfers, except several depart from Ootu itself being a very short walk from any accommodation in this locality. Good sailing, swimming, kayaking and SUP in Ootu.

Happy planning.
