My lodge requires cash at end of stay, menaing that I will have large sums of cash in my cabana until departure. They do not have a safe anywhere on the premises. Should I carry my passport and cash with me while out snorkeling? Have there ever been theft incidents on Tobacco Caye?

No, do not carry your passport on trips. Does the lodge have a safe in the office?

I'm currently on tobacco caye and have been leaving my passport and other times in my locked cabana.. I keep valuables in a locked bag which I realize could be easily cut. Nothing has been touched. There's not really anyone here at the moment so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. They do make packs that can be locked up and not slashed if you're worried about it.

We often stay in places without a safe. Google PacSafe, though it isn't fool proof, it will stop the casual thief.
