hi atown,

You can buy bottled water pretty well everywhere. Do you mean - just after you arrive at the airport or are you actually referring to in the city of San Jose? In San Jose itself and in Alajuela the city closest to the airport you can find supermarkets like Pali, Perimercados, Automercado, Mas Por Menos as well as all sorts of smaller grocery stores - depending exactly where you are.

Are you going to be driving? If you are more specific, someone will be able to give you a better answer.

Pura Vida,

Just so you know, it's safe to drink the tap water here.

rareintogo speaks the truth.

We were in Costa Rica for three weeks, visiting our daighter who lives there, and traveling around the country. We did not use bottled water.

I don't remember, but if you insist probably there is a vendor at the airport who sells bottled water.

You should buy your water from the local grocers, they are everywhere. Make sure to eat the wonderful pastries at "Musmani" a chain of bakeries present in every town. Tap water is clean and delicious and will save a nasty plastic bottle from polluting paradise.
