El Castillo

Has anyone stayed in this mountain village near Arenal? Interested in feedback on staying there while in the Arenal area for 4 nights in August.

We visited the reptile center there after ziplining. Seemed very small and low-key. Not sure how many restaurants or sights would be in that area, compared to Arenal.

El Castillo is in a great location for off the beaten path and with great views over Arenal volcano. However it is a tiny village, and the road there is gravel and slow. If staying in the area and looking for "do nothing" then go for it. If going on tours and participating at usual Arenal outdoor activities then it is better if you are located closer to La Fortuna.
