Car Rental Booked - Confirm all Required Insurances Added

Just booked with Alamo Costa Rica Details Below - Want to confirm that I will not need to pay any "hidden" insurances when I arrive. Will I have any large hold placed on credit card when I pick up as damage deposit?

I picked everything they offered.

Collision Damage Waiver

Third Party Insurance

Deductible Protection

Glass/Tires Protection

Roadside Assitance

No, your deposit should be within CDW excess amount. However deposit amount should be part of your quotation; if not ask Alamo CR directly.

Sounds to me like you purchased the additional deductible reduction as well. Generally speaking, the deposit amount is directly tied to the excess deductible that you are liable for.

Thus, those who use their credit cards for CDW have a very high deposit, those who use the company CDW have a much lower deposit, and those who also purchase the option to reduce the deductible (ideally to zero) will have the lowest deposit by far.

Plus, I find Alamo to be honest and reliable. You should be fine.

How did Alamo define “deductible protection”.? I don’t see that as a defined Term on their website. “Accident Protection” is. Read the terms and conditions carefully.

Since "accident protection" reduces the deductible, I figured that's what the OP meant with "deductible protection..."

yes they will put a hold on your credit card for x amount of money depending on the cost per day of your rental. It is a lot of money, usually around $700 and up. Note: take 100% liability.insurance- they are quoting you at 80%. You don't want any problems if accident. 100% liability will cover. costaricalearn

#5 post touches a very important issue ... usually driver is liable to 20% of third party damages if driver is at fault. More risky then driving around with max excess CDW!

Of course, any rental car company will be glad to sell you the extra 20% coverage of TPL.
