Montezuma or Samara

Hi All,

It seems that our itinerary will allow us to spend 5 days in Nicoya. We will be driving from Arenal and initially though we would stay the entire 5 days in Samara. We'd hate not to visit Montezuma, but from what we've heard the driving time between Samara and Montezuma is at least 3 hours.

So the question is, maybe we should skip Samara and head straight to Montezuma? Which place would you recommend if we are traveling with a 2yr old kid? We tend to prefer less touristy and laid back places, yet family friendly and with ways to spend the time actively, not just busking in the sun.

(From Nicoya we will be heading to Manuel Antonio. That's another factor....)

I think Samara and nearby Playa Carrilla have less waves so it might be easier to take your little one into the water in those locations. Samara has been described on this forum as a having real "Tico" atmosphere but still being tourist-friendly in terms of having restaurants, activities, etc.

Samara is more 'family friendly'....Montezuma is more hippy vibe friendly, IMO.
