Timing guided hikes/activities 3nts in St Elena

Please help me organize this.

I am confused a bit about how much time the activities take.

Looking @ anywherecostarica website, states Selvatura canopy or canopy/bridges take 2.5-3hrs?

Of course can't take same time for one or both activities! Am I reading wrong?

Will have 3 nts mid December staying @ Arco Iris

I understand most, or all?, tours pic up from my hotel.

So, will this work?:

DAY 1

- arrive 1pm Interbus

- deli or supermarket packed lunch

- walk to ORCHID GARDEN

-HIDDEN VALLEY tour 5:30pm

-dinner in town

DAY 2

-SANTA ELENA reserve GUIDED hike 7:30-11:30am

-lunch @ Selvatura?

-SELVATURA Canopy/Bridges 1-4:30pm

-walk to FROG POND at night?

-dinner in town

DAY 3

-MONTEVERDE FOREST GUIDED hike 7:30-10:30am

-hummingbird exhibit @ entrance

-hike to san luis waterfall?

-bus or walk to CASEM & BAT JUNGLE?

-bus or taxi back to town

-dinner in town

DAY4 transfer to La Fortuna

Day @ St Elena & Selvatura what are options for transportation from one to other and where to eat before canopy time?

Can someone tell me how far the waterfall is from Monteverde Reserve and can that hike be done alone in a few hours?

Is it walking distance to CASEM?

Does one just flag down the bus at road and how frequent is the service?

thanks! Tina

Hi,

Your itinerary looks pretty good. You'll have lots of time to enjoy each activity for sure!

The best way from Selvatura to anywhere else you want to go, just pay them for transportation, they are very reasonably priced and will pick you up and drop you off.

Hope this helps,

thanks Marina

Just to clarify;

Selvatura would pick me up from St Elena Reserve after my hike and drop me off back at Arco Iris?

Or do I actually have to go round trip hiking St Elena reserve and round trip Selvatura park?

I dont mind paying for few dollars here & there for rides (taxi, bus or other) if it means not backtracking. I have 1.5 hours between activities but need lunch in there too.

Hi,

You can definitely work out a transportation situation with SelvaTura. You will tell them where to pick you up and drop you off. You might have to pay a bit extra for the different locations, but they are very good about that.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well then, IMHO Selvatura rocks!

:)

I DO have another question Marina

Is there somewhere online that lists bus schedule around Monteverde?

Just from Santa Elena bus stop to both reserves would be priority.

How about approx taxi costs to & from certain places?

Besides hiking reserves & Selvatura activities, considering bus after Monteverde guided hike to CASEM & bat jungle

Then maybe a taxi round trip to Cerra Plano area restaurant?

thanks for your help!

Hi,

YOu know what, I'm not the person to answer the bus schedule and taxis. Since I didn't do buses while there and we hired transportation from the tours and had a car when not touring.

There is another forum poster Monteverdeguy. He is really knowledgeable about that area. You can send him a private message. I'm sure he'll know for sure.

Hope this helps,

Hi - I am staying at the Arco Iris as well arriving on the 16th of December and leaving on December 18th. If you are there at that time and taxi's are an option for Selvatura or Monteverde maybe we can share a ride?

Another option I am looking at too to maximize my time there is a night hike at Monteverde - Fodor's recommends it and it starts at 7:15 p.m.

Cheers!

Our taxi rides were not expensive. We had one that was $5 each way and one that was $8 each way. We stayed at Fonda Vela to give you an idea of distances. If you're looking for a cute place to eat in town, we liked Pizzeria de Johnny - had a great salad there and good pizza.

volcanogirl

thanks for the restaurant recommendation

Most places seem to provide transportation.

I may go to Cerra Plano area for dinner one night though so good to know the taxis are reasonable.

Actually found the bus schedule too eventually @ monteverde-info website, just dont know if it is current.
