1. Re: Transportation

You do not really have to rent a car ...and to answer your question...yes there are rent a car offices at the airport...and about public transportation...you must take a taxi to get to the bus station...

Just buckle up and enjoy the ride in paradise!!

There are several ways you can travel to Manuel Antonio.

You can actually fly - its a 15 minute flight.

flying on Sansa or Natureair - small commuter planes

Sansa leaves from a small terminal near SJO while Natureair leaves from Pavas airport about 25 minutes away.

Rent a car and drive yourself.

The drive is about 3 hours.

Scheduled shuttles like Interbus or Grayline or similar service. They pick you up not right at the airport but at places like the Hampton or garden Court Hotels about 5 minutes away.

Hiring a private driver. He'll be there waiting for you at the airport if you prearrange.

(several recommended in this forum)

using the public buses - cheap and efficient if they fit into your schedule. However you have to get yourself to the Coca Cola bus station - downtown.

hiring a taxi. You can negotiate with the official airport taxi desk and if someone is available and wants the fare they'll take you.

Once you are in MA, the local buses are good during the day to get you to the park and beach or into Quepos - providing the hotel you choose is not too far from the road.

Taxis are quite plentiful and relatively reasonable.
