Fishing and Catamaran - Manuel Antonio

Hello everyone! We are visiting Manuel Antonio on the tail end of our 11 day honeymoon Costa Rica trip in February, and we are interested in doing a deep sea fishing charter and a catamaran cruise. I haven't seen a lot of recent reviews for either of these activities, but keep hearing that it's a great place for fishing.

Any suggestions?!

We had a misfortune of paying for this catamaran cruise, which was sold to us as "a whalewatching tour". It turned out to be a crowded booze cruise with incredibly loud music, zero whales or dolphins, though it was peak season, since the staff was serving alcoholic drinks and partying, not looking for wildlife. A crew member was also feeding lunch left-overs overboard - to attract more fish, right next to the national park's beach, so one would think that the marine environment should have been protected from human food. See reviews here - https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review… . We wasted our money on that.

Check out Quepos Fishing adventures. We used them for a full day off shore and 1/2 day inshore during our honeymoon. They were fantastic, we couldn't have been happier. And were quite affordable as compared to prices of some other boats. That being said, their boats are fishing boats, not catamarans. There are catamaran tours but I don't believe that any of them do any serious fishing and stay mostly inshore. Have a great time... happy honeymoon!

A lot of great fishing boats…good idea to check them first if possible…if you have a chance in restaurant MARLIN by the beach next to Manuel Antonio National Park…ask for Merlin he owns a nice great boat…nice guy he can help you guys.

For whale tours if you can drive to Uvita…you can find great options…for not to big boats…just god enough…
