Jaco during the wet season?

We are traveling to Costa Rica for our first time, we will be in Jaco from October 4th-12th. I booked my trip in the low season because of the cheaper rates. How many hours during the day will it rain? Is it a mist, or will it downpour throughout the day?

Figure on that time of year heavy rain in late afternoon, evening and throughout the night. Probably be safe in the mornings and up till at least about 1, and should get some sun in the mornings. No such thing as mist, if its raining, its pouring down!

Generally sun til early to mid afternoon and then it can really come down! Everything is open air here so even in the event of a strong storm, you'll find plenty of places to duck into, have a great cup of CR coffee or cold beverage and watch the storm over the Pacific. Even in the green season, everything goes on as normal. Another up side is lots of good deals at the stores, restaurants etc. Enjoy!

it is hard to know for sure

October is historically the wettest month of the year, but they do predict september to be the wettest month the year.

I have seen it rain all day every day nonstop for the entire month of october, about 5 or 6 years ago.

but most Octobers' since have been pretty mild, and last year was very mild- lots of sunny days, which fade to cloudy afternoons and showers in the evenings, a few to several days a week.

but don't rule out a day of rain here or there.

chances are you still may need sunblock if you get out to explore in the day.

but bring a light raincoat with you, it is kind of nice because the cloud cover spares you from of the intense sun we get in dry season, and temps are a little cooler

you definitely should be able to get lodging at a bargin price as Sept & October are the slowest months for tourism here
