Neo Fauna Butterfly Farm

We just returned from a month long stay in Playa Bejuco. One of our special memories was our trip to the Neo Fauna Butterfly Farm. This is a perfect short outing for children over 5, teenagers, senior citizens, photographers and anyone interested in an up close and personal look at butterflies, frogs and snakes of Costa Rica. This guided tour only takes about an hour plus. The farm is located 3km north of Jaco and 2 easy km off the main road. The cost is $20 with guide and might seem high when you compare to Carera National Park. However, the mission of this farm is dedicated to aiding the reproduction of these species, many endangered and the cost of admission is what preserves this farm. The farm is similar to a lush, oversized tropical backyard with high netting enclosure. Our guide, Jose, was an intelligent young man who really knew his species. We took some of the best pictues of our entire trip. Opens at 8:00am in high season or call Luis 2643-1904 or 8811-9714..

I can totally agree. We were there in November and it was really an experience. It's very rustic but you do get up close and personal with all sorts of snakes, frogs and butterflies. We did the tour and left behind an extra tip for the preservation of these amazing species.
