Tortuguero for 3 Days and 2 Nights

We want to go to Tortuguero after or before our 8 night escorted tour to other regions of Costa Rica. We have been told not to miss this place! We want good, reasonably priced accomodations, lodging and transportation. Thanks!

This place is absolutely beautiful! You cannot miss this place. It only takes some travel time to reach this place, as you can only reach Tortuguero by boot or plane. We went from San Jose to Tortuguero by plane. We booked on natureair.com. I think we were really Lucky, because we only paid 35 dollar p.p. for one way flight. We stayed at Rana Roja lodge, in the middle of the jungle not in the village hisself. You can maybe better stay in the village, for example at Miss Miriam. Not expensive. We stayed 2 days in Tortuguero, we made a boottrip in the morning around 5 o'clock, really beautiful! After 2 days we went by boot to Moin. Price 35 dollar p.p.

Enjoy!

Tortuguero is amazing and well worth the effort to get there. This will provide you a lot of information: www.tortuguerovillage.com

I have always stayed at Casa Marbella which is clean and comfortable and right on the lagoon/river. They have a largish dock where you can sit and watch birds or just watch the world go by. They also have a canoe that you can use for free to do some exploring.

Miss Miriam's is also nice and you get a view of the ocean, I think. Both Miss Miriam's and Casa Marbella are in the village of Tortuguero so you can easily walk around, walk up and down the beach, have a choice of restaurants and have access to the terrestrial portion of the National Park. If you stay someplace like Rana Roja, you are isolated and will need to arrange a boat wherever and whenever you need/want to go.

Thanks for the good info. We just returned from a great trip to Costa Rica and spent 5 extra days unwinding in fabulous Playa Samara. Tortuguero will have to wait for another time.

Glad you had a great time, hicocamp. I had to say "duh" when I looked at the date of your original post - which I didn't look at before answering.

Hicocamp - who did you book your escorted tour with? We are in the process of researching tours through Costa Rica for next years Spring Break. There is so much information. Hard to know which tour companies are good!!

Thanks

We stayed at Pachira Lodge in Tortuguero. Had a blast there. The lodge was awesome, the service was exceptional and their 3 tours were memorable. They pickup and dropoff from San Jose, the meals, the 3 tours are all included in their price. We decided to fly in because I didnt want to do the road/boat trip to Tortuguero. So if you want to save some time, i would suggest flying in. By the way, the flight is not covered in their package price, you would have to plan that separately. But if time is not a factor, take the road/boat transfer to Tortuguero and enjoy the beautiful country.

Have fun!
