Christmas trip with Family-Where to stay for surfing and fun

We are a family of 5/2 young adults and 1 teen, and have decided on Tamarindo. Now trying to decide where to stay. Our goals are: Beach, Surf, Deep Sea fishing, Nightlife, Eco-tourism/sea turtles/natural habitats for wildlife, and maybe some scuba diving. Hotels and B&B's are great but any VRBO suggestions are welcome as well. Capitan Suizo is booked for our dates so any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Hopefully surfsponger will give you some good ideas on VRBO, it would save your family lots of money. My want to send him a PM.

Hi, in Tamarindo there are very nice Hotels but I think it would be better a villa or condominium that is cheaper and you can make your own food.

Some hotels are located near the center of tamarind has villas surrounded by vegetation, also should be aware that some hotels or villas have combos of tours that they can use.

On this page you will find many hotels with these describtions and right there you can know the price, location etc.

I hope I was helpful.

Cala Luna is a very good option for Tamarindo. For ecotourism maybe 1 night in the Rincon de la Vieja area. The volcano is active and easy to explore. Lots of adventure, lots to see in the area.

capitan suizo is lovely and we have done that for xmas with our family who surfs. look up maria sabato for some house rentals.she is very nice and has some great places. you can do breakfast inside then go out to dinner. playa langosta is beautiful with some waves. if you rent a car ,go surf at playa grande. if you are going to diff. beaches you should pack an umbrella and bring some beach chairs from home as they are impossible to find in town. your family will love it!!

We have stayed at Capitan Suizo, Diria and the Sunrise complex in Tamarindo. Too bad Capitan Suizo is booked. It is beautiful and perfect for a family, however, we found it expensive if you purchase meals. Last year we stayed at the Sunrise complex. We were in unit 38, it was beautiful and perfect for 4-5 people. It was right in the center of town across the street from the beach. We saved a lot of money by making our own breakfast and lunch. We booked through vrbo.tamarindo. We loved it so much that we will be staying there again this summer. You could also check out the Diria rentals, but they are a tiny bit further than beach. Enjoy your vacation!
