Flamingo Beach Resort

Has anybody been to this resort and if so, is it nice and close to anything? Worth staying at?

Been there twice, but most recent visit was about 3 years ago. It should not be considered a resort as activities offered are limited. It has a great pool and direct access to one of the country's best beaches.

The food (except for breakfast buffet) is poor. A small cafe Maries across from the hotel is a better bet This is a reasonable place to stay and a great value for what you pay if you have a rental car or if you plan to buy day tours. The small town offers the basics within walking distance. As a destination (unless you just want to soak up sun, drink and swim) it would probably not meet your expectations.

I stayed there last summer. Nice enough. Very clean. Lots of families with kids. Decor is more Best Western imo once in the rooms. Not being nasty, I just have stayed in a lot of places and many hotels and lodges do have a more tropical feel to the decor. They were just finishing up redoing the pool and cafe area when we were there. Just the pool was done. They were still working on the cafe and swim up bar. Very nice pool.

Maries, as mentioned has been a favorite of mine for several years now. Was a little hard to locate but we found it last year. A largish portion of the tiny town was leveled and new condos and shops were being built almost directly across from the FBR. Maries is almost right across from FBR still but set back off the road and down a little from where they used to be.

It is a beautiful beach and the sunsets are awesome. Not much to do directly there but there are some tours offered. If you rent a car there you could easily drive to Brazilito or Tamarindo. Driving at night is not advised.
